Head to head
TechMan vs Motasoft: which suits your workshop?
TechMan offers four tiered plans with pay-per-use credits. Motasoft VGM focuses on affordability with Haynes technical data included. Both are established UK garage management systems. Here's how they compare, plus where Garegi offers a different approach.
TechMan at a glance
TechMan's four tiers range from £99/month (Partner) to £529/month (Enterprise). The Partner plan has no setup fee but requires a 12-month contract. Autodata integration starts at the Flexi tier (£199/month, ~£995 setup). Credits are charged for DVLA lookups, SMS and Mailchimp mailshots on top of the subscription.
Motasoft VGM at a glance
Motasoft VGM has three tiers: Standard (£65/month), Plus (£95/month) and Premium (£135/month). All plans come with free setup, no contract and DVLA integration included. Haynes Pro technical data is available on Plus and Premium. SMS is charged separately as a credit pack. A website add-on costs £50/month extra.

Where TechMan wins
TechMan has deeper integrations at the higher tiers: Autodata, multi-site support and enterprise account management. For garages that need Autodata service schedules and are willing to pay the Flexi or Professional price, TechMan's integration is more established than Motasoft's Haynes Pro offering.
Where Motasoft wins
Motasoft is the most affordable option. £65/month with free setup, no contract and DVLA included is hard to beat on pure cost. Haynes Pro technical data from £95/month adds genuine value. For a small garage watching every pound, Motasoft's entry point is significantly lower than TechMan's.
Where Garegi fits in
Garegi costs more than either at £200/month, but that price includes a booking website, 300 SMS messages, DVLA lookups and no setup fee or contract. Neither TechMan nor Motasoft includes a full website in their base price. For garages that factor in the cost of a separate website and SMS credits, Garegi's all-inclusive pricing can work out comparable. See the full pricing breakdown.
Common questions
Is Motasoft cheaper than TechMan?
Yes. Motasoft starts at £65/month with free setup and no contract. TechMan's cheapest plan is £99/month with a 12-month contract. Both are cheaper than Garegi's £200/month, but Garegi includes a booking website and 300 SMS at no extra cost.
Does Motasoft have Autodata like TechMan?
Motasoft includes Haynes Pro technical data on its Plus and Premium tiers. TechMan includes Autodata from the Flexi tier. Both provide service schedules and repair information, from different data providers.
Does TechMan charge credits that Motasoft doesn't?
TechMan charges credits for DVLA lookups, SMS and mailshots. Motasoft includes DVLA in the subscription but charges separately for SMS credit packs. The credit models are different.
Is there an alternative with no credits at all?
Garegi charges £200/month flat with 300 SMS included, no DVLA credits and no setup fee. The trade-off is a higher monthly price than either TechMan Partner or Motasoft Standard.
