What TechMan offers

TechMan has been serving UK garages for years and has built a solid reputation. It runs across four tiers (Starter, Lite, Advanced and Pro) with pricing from £99 to £529 a month depending on the tier and whether you choose the Partner plan (longer commitment, no upfront fee) or the Flexi plan (30-day rolling, with an upfront onboarding fee of £100 to £1,300).

Its standout feature is the HaynesPro and Autodata integration, which gives technicians access to manufacturer repair times, wiring diagrams and service schedules directly inside the system. At the Advanced and Pro tiers, you get digital tablet job cards, a customer portal, web booking and marketing automation tools.

TechMan also has partnerships with LKQ Euro Car Parts, GSF and NAPA, offering discounted rates for garages in those networks.

Where garages outgrow TechMan

The credit system is the biggest frustration for busy garages. DVLA lookups, SMS reminders and mailshots are all charged as credits on top of the monthly subscription. For a four-bay garage doing 12 jobs a day, the credit top-ups can add £50 to £150 a month, turning the headline price into something quite different.

The tier structure means the features most garages actually want (digital job cards on tablets, a customer portal, online booking) are locked behind the Advanced or Pro tiers at £315 to £529 a month. Starting on a lower tier and upgrading later means re-evaluating your entire cost structure.

The Flexi plan's upfront fee of up to £1,300 is non-refundable, and the Partner plan requires a longer-term commitment to avoid it. For garages that want flexibility without a large upfront investment, neither option is ideal.

How Garegi compares

Garegi takes the opposite approach: one flat price for the full feature set, with no tiers, no credit charges and no upfront fees. The garage module is £200 a month and includes everything: jobs, invoicing, MOT lookups, 300 SMS reminders, digital inspections, GSF parts ordering, Bond wholesale tyres, Mollie payments and a customer booking website.

It's honest to say Garegi doesn't have technical data (Autodata, HaynesPro) built in. It doesn't have marketing automation or a customer portal at this stage. And it's a newer system without TechMan's years of track record or partner network discounts.

But for garages that want to know exactly what they'll pay each month, with no credit meter ticking in the background, that simplicity has real value.

Where Garegi is not the right choice

If your technicians rely on manufacturer repair times and wiring diagrams being available inside the management system, TechMan's Autodata and HaynesPro integration does that and Garegi doesn't. If you're part of the LKQ Euro Car Parts or NAPA networks and get discounted TechMan rates, the maths may work differently. And if you need a customer-facing portal where customers can authorise work online, TechMan's Advanced and Pro tiers offer that.
