Buyer's guide

Comparing garage management software: what actually matters.

Most comparison pages are written to make one product win. This one is a checklist you can take to any provider, including us. If Garegi isn't the right answer for your garage, you'll work that out faster with these questions than with a demo.

Start with the first-year cost, not the monthly price

The monthly fee is the number everyone advertises. The setup fee is the number that decides what you actually pay in year one, and it's usually further down the page.

Published UK pricing for garage management systems generally sits between about £135 and £375 a month, with one-off setup fees from a few hundred pounds up to several thousand. Website packages are often priced separately again, with their own build cost and their own monthly fee. Add those together before comparing anything.

Ranges above are from publicly listed UK pricing, checked 19 August 2026. Pricing reflects standard published rates and does not include promotional offers, limited-time discounts or negotiated rates. Providers change pricing, so confirm current figures directly with each provider before deciding.

A worked example

A £235/month system with a £500 setup fee costs £3,320 in year one. A £150/month system with a £1,000 setup and a separate £300/month website costs £6,400. The cheaper monthly figure isn't always the cheaper system.

The questions worth asking every provider

  • What's the total first-year cost, including setup, onboarding, data import and the website?
  • Am I tied in? Monthly rolling, or a 12 to 36 month contract with an early exit charge?
  • What happens to my data if I leave? Can you export customers, vehicles and job history yourself, in a usable format?
  • Which integrations are included rather than billed as extras? Parts and tyre suppliers, payments, accounting.
  • What are the usage limits? Vehicle lookups, SMS reminders and users are commonly capped, with overage charged per unit.
  • Is a customer booking website included, and do bookings land in the diary automatically or arrive as an email?
  • Who does the data migration, and is it charged?
  • Can I add or drop parts of the system as the business changes, without renegotiating everything?

Where Garegi isn't the right choice

We'd rather lose the sale than the customer six months in. Garegi probably isn't for you if you're a franchised main dealer tied into a manufacturer system, if you need heavy fleet-contract or leasing management, or if you want deep technical data like manufacturer service schedules and wiring diagrams built in. Some established systems do that and we don't.

Where we do win is straightforward: one price with nothing hidden behind it, no setup fee, no contract, and a workshop, a sales operation and a hire fleet that share the same customers and payments instead of sitting in three systems. Common questions

What should I compare when choosing garage management software?

True first-year cost (monthly plus setup), contract length, what happens to your data if you leave, which integrations are included rather than charged, and whether a customer booking website is included or sold separately.

How much does UK garage management software cost?

Published pricing generally runs between about £135 and £375 per month, with setup fees from a few hundred to several thousand pounds. Websites are usually priced separately. Figures checked 19 August 2026.

Are setup fees normal?

Common, but not universal. They typically cover onboarding, data import and website build. Garegi charges none and includes onboarding and migration.

Should the booking website be included?

Many providers sell the system and the website as separate products with separate fees. Garegi includes a booking website with every module.
